What is IOP?
Intensive outpatient programming (IOP) is a level of behavioral healthcare that is typically more structured and intensive than traditional weekly therapy.
The goal of IOP is to provide individuals with the support and treatment they need to manage their mental health issues and achieve lasting recovery, while still allowing them to maintain their daily routines and responsibilities.
Curated groups
By bringing people with similar mental health challenges together, we’re able to create group environments where clients can learn how to build connections and foster long-term healing.
Individual therapy
One-on-one connections are critical to the IOP model, which is why each client’s unique treatment plan includes a primary therapist for weekly individual sessions.
Family therapy
The #1 predictor of success in IOP is family involvement. Our virtual intensive outpatient program’s family therapy component teaches communication and coping skills to create a more supportive home environment both during and after treatment.
Who is IOP for?
People with ongoing mental health issues or in a mental health crisis
IOP is designed for individuals who need more treatment and support than can be provided through once-weekly therapy, but who do not require the level of care provided through residential or inpatient treatment.

What our clients say
“I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was hopeful it would help. And help it did.”
I knew that I needed therapy, but I didn't really know where to start. When my doctor referred me to Charlie Health, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was hopeful it would help. And help it did! While its focus isn't on any specialty and more on generally coping with life and relationships, I needed that groundwork to help me heal further. I feel much more balanced and grounded than before being part of CH. It may seem like a lot to do each week (and sometimes it is), but having that kind of atmosphere and routine for this program is so important and worth it. Everyone is so nice and helpful, and you'll never feel alone when you join your therapy group, even if you feel that way everywhere else.

“Charlie Health gave me the space I needed to develop coping skills that I can use and apply in everyday situations.”
Four months ago, I was in the darkest place that I've ever been in. I was struggling with my job, and the constant stress was causing me to experience the worst decline in my mental health that I've ever had. It was bad enough that I needed to go to the hospital for a few days. Since being discharged, I left my job as a hospital nurse, I started intensive outpatient therapy, and I finally made time to take care of myself. Charlie Health gave me the space I needed to develop coping skills that I can use and apply in everyday situations. I was able to process aloud with my individual therapist and with others who are going through similar experiences. Now, I have a job that I finally feel will provide me with the balance that I was missing in my previous job.

“I admire the patience, compassion, and devotion behind the program's mission. .”
The most important aspect of Charlie Health is how quickly I could access care and how forgiving the program is if you cannot commit the first time you enroll. If you can't, you can't, but you can always try again when ready. I cannot say the same thing about many mental health providers out there that have strong attendance policies that bar you from the entire practice if you do not comply. The simple fact is that you cannot grow in barren soil. I had to change many aspects of my life, which included exiting extremely toxic and volatile environments before I could sit down and focus on attending several hours of the group every week for several consecutive weeks. But when the seeds had finally sprouted, Charlie Health was there to help continue my growth. I admire the patience, compassion, and devotion behind the program's mission.
