What is IOP?
Intensive outpatient programming (IOP) is a level of behavioral healthcare that is typically more structured and intensive than traditional weekly therapy.
The goal of IOP is to provide individuals with the support and treatment they need to manage their mental health issues and achieve lasting recovery, while still allowing them to maintain their daily routines and responsibilities.
Curated groups
By bringing people with similar mental health challenges together, we’re able to create group environments where clients can learn how to build connections and foster long-term healing.
Individual therapy
One-on-one connections are critical to the IOP model, which is why each client’s unique treatment plan includes a primary therapist for weekly individual sessions.
Family therapy
The #1 predictor of success in IOP is family involvement. Our virtual intensive outpatient program’s family therapy component teaches communication and coping skills to create a more supportive home environment both during and after treatment.
Who is IOP for?
People with ongoing mental health issues or in a mental health crisis
IOP is designed for individuals who need more treatment andsupport than can be provided through once-weekly therapy, but who do not require the level of care provided through residential or inpatient treatment.

What our clients say
“Every bit of it is so worth it.”
"I've been struggling with depression and my mental health for about ten years. I've been in four different inpatient facilities; my most recent therapist said she hadn't seen any improvement and was giving up on me as a client. I was in the psychiatric hospital for a week before being discharged, and part of my discharge plan was to attend Charlie Health. I was hesitant at first, I had always been told to avoid online therapy, just because it lacked the connection that in-person experiences had, but I live in a rural area, and the opportunity to connect with other people of the LGBTQ+ community who were struggling with the same experiences I was sounded too good to pass up. Charlie Health's group therapy has helped me in so many ways. Not just with getting to meet people in the same community as me, even though that alone is amazing and an experience that should be treasured on its own. The group facilitators are all experienced and have their own stories to tell, and their own expertise to share. Every client that comes through has their own unique story, their own unique perspective on the world, their own unique identity that you get to learn. Hearing these stories, learning from these people - you don't realize it at first, but it's all part of the process. Every bit of it is so worth it."

“So many people are willing to guide you and to give you a universal reminder: You are not alone.”
When I first entered Charlie Health, my initial thought was that I'd probably be stuck here or worse: I'd end up in a facility or dead. My mental health was at an all-time low. I was harboring so much resentment, anger, and sadness over everything. What was worse was that my whole family seemed to have those same feelings aimed in my direction because of what led me here. Initially, I was reticent when participating in groups. I didn't know how to act. How to be. In my mind, there had to be a perfect way. But over time, that mask fell. Weeks went by, and I started to come out of my shell, going from a hardened, disturbed person to someone who could somehow see the good in everything. Granted, there are still things that have been happening to me offscreen that I can't control. But, because of Charliehealth, I'm much stronger. I can use the skills and techniques I've learned over the last few months to combat all of those negative thoughts and experiences as they happen. That's not to say there wouldn't be any struggling. Struggling is a part of that process. But it's a matter of continuing to push through that blizzard, those waves of emotions that will help you see the journey through. That's how I continue to look at it, even after discharge. Nothing, especially letting go, is never easy. Here, however, so many people are willing to guide you and to give you a universal reminder: You are not alone.

“I have more energy, I’m sleeping better, and I’m more optimistic about life.”
When I came into Charlie Health, I was at a really low point in my life. This program helped me a lot more than I expected it to. This is the first time in my life that I’ve had a sense of emotional regulation. I have more energy, I’m sleeping better, and I’m more optimistic about life. I am really grateful for Charlie Health.
