Before Charlie Health I felt very alone with my thoughts and feelings. I didn’t know that it was normal to have all of these emotions. Now, I’m able to learn strategies to improve my relationships with others and most importantly the relationship I had with myself. I’m thankful for my experience and everyone I’ve met. I’d recommend Charlie Health to anyone.

“An amazing experience.”
This was an amazing experience. The people are kind, the group facilitators are amazing, and the Individual therapists are good. Charlie Health made me more confident in who I am and I started the process of learning how to better communicate. These nine weeks were amazing, especially after being stuck in one place for about a year with minimal human interactions. If someone is considering this, it is more than worth it.
—Jaden Q.
“I am so happy I gave it a chance.”
I had reached a point in my life where something had to give. I was either going to succumb to my trauma and depression or need to go to an inpatient facility. I found Charlie Health through the military and was scared at first and wasn’t sure it would help, but I am so happy I gave it a chance. My husband and immediate family have noticed a significant difference in my countenance and behaviors. I am lighter and happier. I can be faced with stress and not be overwhelmed by it. I now have a clean and healthy slate to begin handling my trauma. I will recommend the CBT groups to everyone. My family will forever be changed by the generational traumas I have worked on breaking. My children will get to have a whole mother who is not weighed down by her grief, depression, or anxiety. My husband now has a partner who can communicate, and we will continue to cultivate a healthy and loving friendship and marriage.

“It helped because I didn’t feel so alone in group.”
I was having really bad suicidal ideation before I got to Charlie Health and then I attempted suicide and then my school offered Charlie Health to me and I joined. I started in group sessions first and then I got in individual therapy and then I got into family therapy. It helped because I didn’t feel so alone in group and I got to talk to them about what was going on in my school life and my home life. And then I got to talk to my individual therapist about the things that happened and we talked through it. Then I went to family therapy and built a relationship with my dad and I built a better relationship with my mom and sister.

“Every bit of it is so worth it.”
“I’ve been struggling with depression and my mental health for about ten years. I’ve been in four different inpatient facilities; my most recent therapist said she hadn’t seen any improvement and was giving up on me as a client. I was in the psychiatric hospital for a week before being discharged, and part of my discharge plan was to attend Charlie Health. I was hesitant at first, I had always been told to avoid online therapy, just because it lacked the connection that in-person experiences had, but I live in a rural area, and the opportunity to connect with other people of the LGBTQ+ community who were struggling with the same experiences I was sounded too good to pass up. Charlie Health’s group therapy has helped me in so many ways. Not just with getting to meet people in the same community as me, even though that alone is amazing and an experience that should be treasured on its own. The group facilitators are all experienced and have their own stories to tell, and their own expertise to share. Every client that comes through has their own unique story, their own unique perspective on the world, their own unique identity that you get to learn. Hearing these stories, learning from these people – you don’t realize it at first, but it’s all part of the process. Every bit of it is so worth it.”
—Tobias M.

“The Charlie Health environment is extremely supportive.”
I remember one session, I was struggling with saying something because it was about how I have harmed someone before. I might have accidentally worded it as something that I was a victim of, but then I reclarified it. I was so terrified of the response I would recieve because a lot of people in this group had experienced a lot of bad things in their life at the hands of others. Instead, I was met with love, because I was able to admit that I was wrong and tell the truth of the situation. I know many sessions where someone felt as if they were alone and then others in the group talked about how they went through the same thing or that things will get better. If anything, the Charlie Health environment is extremely supportive, and one that I think would be great for anyone.
—Nathan B.

“Charlie Health is the primary reason I have been able to make positive changes in my life.”
I came into Charlie Health very sick and concerned with my future. After only a week, I was already using new skills I had learned, and connecting with my group members in healthy ways. I have never felt more supported than when I was in my group setting. Having an individual therapist on top of group also helped with my extra needs that I was unable to cover in group. Unlike some therapy, I am able to perform different skills to regulate my mental health. I am confident that Charlie Health is the primary reason I have been able to make positive changes in my life and continue living every day to its fullest.
—Sydney C.R.
“Thank you for helping me and thousands of others who are just like me.”
“I first heard about Charlie Health when my younger sister was going through a crisis. I was astonished to hear about a virtual IOP that was not only nationwide, but really putting in the work to get state healthcare approval as well. I figured if the program was quality, that it could have a tremendous impact on the lack of accessible mental health care in America. A few months later, I found myself in crisis, the lowest I had ever been. It felt like it was meant to be. The admissions team made me feel safe and cared for almost immediately. I can’t thank them enough. Through my time here, I have had countless things come up where my mental health could have taken a nosedive. But I have been able to stay out of crisis to the aid of my peers and their support. I can’t thank Charlie Health enough for the fantastic work that goes into putting everyone in relevant groups. I even met another person who has narcolepsy, a very rare sleep disorder. It was effortless to connect with my group mates. We always made sure to help each other up when someone was down, because we knew that it was just a matter of time before it was one of us. My assigned therapist has allowed me to turn my life around. I have never felt so seen and understood by a professional, I can tell she actually cares. I’m looking forward to continuing working with her moving forward. I can’t recommend Charlie Health enough. I even would love to work for their tech department because I believe in the product that much. Thank you for helping me and thousands of others who are just like me.”
—Kayla M.

“Charlie Health made me feel like I wasn’t alone.”
I have struggled with more in my life than I think anyone ever should, and sometimes my story feels like a bad supervillain’s backstory, as opposed to mine. I have kept so many things hidden from people in my life for my whole life, and almost no one knows everything about me and my past. But the people at Charlie Health made me feel like I wasn’t alone. Both the staff and the other group members made me feel like I wasn’t an alien–I felt like I was human with them. This program is amazing, and we need to have more programs for mental health like this one. Amazing place, with amazing people all around.
—Gloria M.
“I have never encountered such involved and compassionate care.”
I joined Charlie Health after a failed attempt to seek help from a local Emergency Department. I felt worthless and hopeless, like my family and friends would be better off without me. But at Charlie Health, for the first time in my life, I was provided with the skills I need to not only combat these big feelings, but to challenge them and change the way I perceive myself and the world around me. Charlie Health introduced me to the term “C-PTSD” and the results of working through my complex trauma have been incredible. I’ve been in and out of therapy for 15 years, and I have never encountered such involved and compassionate care from a team of professionals. Thank you, CH & teams!

“I can’t thank Charlie Health enough, I don’t wan’t to know where i’d be right now if I hadn’t taken that leap of faith.”
When I stared Charlie Health 3 months ago, I couldn’t leave my house. I couldn’t get my own groceries, or drive a car, I wasn’t able to bathe or take basic care of myself. My anxiety and depression left me feeling completely alone and hopeless. When I reached out to Charlie Health and was greeted by staff that showed me they cared, I saw a glimmer of hope that I’ve been clinging to ever since. It was difficult finding my footing in groups, but once I was sure it was a safe space and started becoming more vulnerable, that’s when the real breakthroughs started happening. Being able to talk to my peers in a judgment free environment allowed me to process the really heavy stuff I’ve bottled up for so many years. I’ve learned so much about myself in so little time, and the connections I’ve made are truly genuine. I can’t thank Charlie Health enough, I don’t wan’t to know where i’d be right now if I hadn’t taken that leap of faith.
—Haley T.
At first Charlie Health felt like a lot in one week, but I grew to like it because I learned about coping skills that I didn’t realize I had. I also feel like I found kids in group therapy who I could relate to. I realized over time in group that I wasn’t alone.

When I joined Charlie Health, I was at a very low point. Charlie Health probably saved my life. The group experience was very impactful. It’s the common support and common ground that we all have. Even if we don’t all have the same traumas, we may have gone through something similar and have advice for each other. I think it’s a beautiful thing. After joining Charlie Health, I finally quit my job and started pursuing something I genuinely have a passion in.
—Destiny A.
“The group really gave me validation and helped encourage me.”
I came to Charlie Health via a referral from previous care. What I noticed in my past treatment is that there are people coming in for all sorts of different reasons. At Charlie Health, I was placed in a group that I was much more easily able to relate to. The group really gave me validation and helped encourage me to take the steps I needed for my mental health. Also in my previous treatment, I didn’t have individual therapy, so coming to Charlie Health, the combination of encouragement from group members and the trauma-processing in individual therapy helped me get to a much better point in my recovery journey.
—David T.

“I now have the resources and skills I need to leave my house.”
I have dealt with severe anxiety my whole life. It didn’t start affecting me until this past year when I developed agoraphobia, which led to me being fully home-bound. I was depressed that I was missing out on everyday teen things, and anxious every time I thought about leaving my home. It wasn’t until I started going to groups at Charlie Health that I started to gain the confidence to start exposure therapy and begin my recovery journey. In only 3 months of being at Charlie Health, I was able to go on a 7-hour car ride with my family. After Charlie Health, I now have the resources and skills I need to leave my house and feel comfortable to be a functioning member of society.

“After my first group session, I left smiling.”
When I got to Charlie Health, I was in a place where I did not want to accept any more help. I was fresh out of the hospital and had seen my fair share of therapists and psychiatrists. I was put in Charlie Health by hospital staff because it was the one thing I was sort of open to. After my first group session, I left smiling. That was the first time I showed a genuine smile in 7 months. It wasn’t overnight or in one Zoom meeting that I felt better, but over the weeks in Charlie Health, I connected and shared with people in ways I had been very closed off to just weeks before. I loved my time here, and I looked forward to group every day. Even if I didn’t share, I still enjoyed it. I love Charlie Health and thank them for getting me out of place I never thought I could.

“The skills that I learned saved my life. .”
My depression started really young, when I was 4 or 5 years old. I’ve dealt with so much since then—childhood sexual trauma, an eating disorder and then substance abuse. I flunked out of school and went on medical leave to find treatment. Charlie Health was the first thing I found. It’s given me the emotional maturity to handle hard things and I’ve gotten more emotional regulation, which is something I wish I had my entire life. The skills that I learned saved my life—my stressors are still there but how I react is completely different. It feels so good to have agency over my emotions. “Charlie Health saved my life.”
Before Charlie Health, I was really struggling with my anxiety. Going to work, doing daily chores and activities, getting out of bed, and even taking care of my basic needs was too much and too difficult for me. My medication management was very poor, and my therapist told me, “Your problems are beyond my capabilities.” So, she suggested Charlie Health. I’m really glad I chose to call Charlie Health and participate in the program. I haven’t felt this good in months. I have a new lease on life and feel so happy and understood.
